Paulinskill Viaduct

I’ve heard about this one for years. I was happy to finally get to it. I must say it was much bigger than I expected.
The viaduct is an old railroad tressel that goes over the Paulinskill River. I’m not sure how long it’s been out of commission, but it was built between 1908 and 1910.

Right near the base we found an old foundation. I’m not sure what it was, but it probably was for the viaduct.

Not a whole lot on the top, other than a nice view. You can see the remains of the tracks as well.
There were kids with quads on the top…no idea how they got up there.

Most of the arches have ‘artwork’ in them….some of it was actually pretty good.

The arches have iron rails in them. At the base of each arch is a small dark room which leads to the next arch.

One of the ‘chambers’ had a cable tied across to help you walk through it. In this same room, the floor was a sheet of ice.

All in all, this was a good trip and am glad I finally got to see it. Most exercise I’ve gotten in a while too.
