Garden of Scripture

Ever want to walk through the Bible? Ever want to walk through the Bible in some guy’s backyard? Now you can!
…for real, this place is in someone’s backyard.

There are over 40 large paintings depicting scenes from the Bible. There is a small path winding through this yard that takes you to them all, and then ultimately to a small outdoor church. Here and there are some animal carvings as well.
A small gateway built into the fence greets visitors. The parking lot is tiny; maybe 2 cars can fit in it. This place is pretty well hidden and most locals don’t know it exists.

All in all, an interesting place to visit. It’s not my faith, but I’m still able to appreciate the artwork and the amount of effort put into the entire thing. I’d like to see something like this done for the Greek or even Norse pantheons.

I read a bit about this place before a camping trip up on the PA side of the Water Gap; I didn’t know much except it used to be an artist’s home and it’s now abandoned. We found out it was only 4 miles away from out campsite, so we checked it out.

It’s just off Rt. 209 but is so well hidden most aren’t aware of its existence. The house, built in 1912, was to have been restored; a sign says “for 2000” so they seem to be running a bit late. From what I’ve been told, the house, while in national park property, isn’t yet officially recognized (it’s not on maps or considered a tourist stop). I didn’t see any maps to confirm this. The sign said to take a pamphlet for more info; there weren’t any.
There are 2 smaller buildings behind it. There’s supposed to also be an old farmhouse and barn about a quarter mile away, but we had about 15 minutes of daylight to play with so we didn’t get to check it out. One nearby trail had a stone wall on its side.

Stopped here while checking out potential towns to move to in PA. 9 bucks to hike around waterfalls….and they card you if you pay by credit. I’m not even sure why I’m including this on the site, but if I have The Flume on here, I guess this’ll fly.

There are 4 marked trails, the more difficult ones being a few miles in length. Due to the weather and our tight schedule, we only got to walk the second shortest of the four. And of course, right after we left the weather cleared up.
Overall, it’s a nice place to walk around. If you like waterfalls and to pay for the privilege of walking, go for it.
