Green Sergeant’s Covered Bridge

NJ’s last “original” covered bridge and one of only two in the state, the Green Sergeant’s bridge almost met its end in 1960. The bridge was dismantled to make way for a “more modern” bridge. Well, the people didn’t take too kindly to the old bridge being taken down, so they caused so much fuss that it was put back together and the second bridge was built right next to it instead. So the bridge is only one way now; depending which way you’re coming from you’ll be taking either the covered bridge or the regular one.

The would-be replacement.
